Michael Edwards

Salem Baptist Church welcomes their new Minister, the Rev Michael Edwards

Michael Edwards will start his new ministry at Salem on the 1st April 2008. The Church Fellowship welcomes Michael and his wife Sandra and look forward to supporting them and working with them as they lead the church in fresh challenges.
After sometime without a minister, we welcome the stability Michael's arrival will bring. Michael originates from the Black Country and after many years lay preaching qualified as a Social Worker and moved to Blackburn. He felt the calling into ministry in 1995 and trained at Northern Baptist College. Michael was a Student Minister at Congleton Baptist Church, then in 2000 was called to Longton & Stoke Baptist Churches. His last pastorate before moving to Salem was at Bethel Baptist Church, Hawthorn, South Wales.

Michael's own words regarding his ministry:-
" The main emphasis of my ministerial experience so far has been to encourage the churches into finding an identity. That identity reflects something of what a 21st century church should be. By this I mean a church that welcomes, encourages and nurtures new people. A church that recognises and values individuals, the youngest to the eldest; a church where teamwork is the key to progress, each member having an important role to play; enabling the use of individual gifts. Encouraging the church to look beyond itself, witnessing to the love and power of God through personal and corporate evangelism. To encourage the membership of the church in personal prayer and Bible study and the importance of worshiping together as a community."

Sandra, a committed Christian, is eager to play an active role in the life of the church, totally supporting Michael's ministry.
